Welcome to Banfid Greyhounds
My first introduction to greyhound racing was when I was very young, my father, grandfather and great grandfather all raced greyhounds and so I guess the 'dogs' were in my blood. Some of my earliest memories are standing trackside at Wishaw flapping track watching the run round really fast and hoping i could take some home with me.
Before I started school I used to walk to my grandparents to feed the greyhounds with my mum, at the time my dad had two young bitches Blackie & Claire who ran on the flaps. I used to love getting into their kennels and petting them and from then all i ever wanted was a greyhound.
Dad stopped racing for over 20 years but when I bought my first house in 2003 I got my first dogs. They came from Andy Reid who trained my first Shawfield runners. I named them Banjo & Fiddle and a few years later their names were combined to give me my 'racing' prefix, Banfid. They also gave dad his interest back in greyhounds and when he retired in 2007 we bought our first racer together, we've owned and raced a few since then.
To keep the theme going we have two syndicates registered for our dogs that don't race under the prefix. The Not Ruled Out Syndicate and The Bottles Syndicate.
